Project Description:
- Based on our research as a team, we realized the power of pet therapy. Therefore, we decided to bring the psychological and cognitive benefits of having pets to the lives of the people who can not have pets due to allergy, lack of time or other reasons.
Programs/Software Used:
- Adobe Illustrator and Invision
Role:
- UX Researcher, UX/UI Designer
Result:
- We created Anipal, a unique artificial pet experience, by utilizing both an app and a toy device that can emulate a pet, help to relieve stress and improve people’s mood. Anipal responds to touch and voice just like a real pet by showing facial expressions and making sounds.

The 3 Interactivity Principles of Anipal:
Touch
The action of touch was an essential interaction to the Anipal experience Based on the qualitative research conducted amongst the pet owners. Based on our research and interviews pet interactions such as petting as well other.
Mobile App
The mobile app is intended to serve as a companion medium to interact with the Anipal, aside from the physical pet toy device. Taking inspiration with a variety of activities/interactions that can be performed between the user and the virtual pet.
Voice
As a team, we wanted to make the user’s voice integral to the Anipal experience. Based on my robot pet experience, communicating with one’s pet can create a deeper connection and experience.
