ROLE:
- UX/UI Designer, UX Researcher
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
- Our design challenge was “How might we create a community at the CMD campus?” Therefore, I and my team started to do research and observation around CMD campus. Skill Exchange app is the result of our Researches, observations, interviews, and brainstorming. An app to bring CMD students together for making their own network of talented students, so they can collaborate on school and individual projects.
Programs/Software Used:
Adobe Illustrator and Adobe XD
RESULT:
- We created the Skill Exchange app, An app to bring CMD students together for making their own network of talented students, so they can collaborate on school and individual projects. The stakeholders were really satisfied with our app. As they said: “ believes that SMC has so many talented students, and they can benefit from each other’s skills, and make a great community at CMD campus and make a lot of good projects together.”

Concept Poster
- problem statement: How might we create a channel to connect/exchange skills for collaboration?
- Who are the key stakeholders: CMD students and faculties
- big idea: Creating an app to enable students to share/exchange their skills or projects.
- How might it fail: If students would not interact with the app or follow up with projects.
- prototype and test: Make paper/digital prototype using wireframes and ask students to use it to see how they would interact with it and to see if they would want to use the app in the future.
- measuring success: The number of students who would sign up to use the app.

Results from User Interviews
- Everyone like it, and they say they would use it for their future projects.
- The app is straightforward and easy to use.
- They want it to be connected to the SMC system, so it would already have their information, and they wouldn’t have to answer a lot of questions on it.
- Change the “Skill” and “Project” titles to “Share Skills” and “Open Projects”, so it would be more clear.
- The logo is confusing because it looks like a setting button.
- Change the yellow color for buttons because it’s really shiny and distracting.
Results from our Presentation
- The Project Manager really liked the idea of an app because “These days everything is about technology and people are always looking for an app to do different things.”
- The dean of Student Services also Liked the idea of sharing skills and projects because she believes that SMC has so many talented students, and they can benefit from each other’s skills, and make a great community at CMD campus and make a lot of good projects.
